Talking to a life coach helps you create the life you want to live.
It’s about looking at the areas of your life where you want to make changes, and finding the strategies to make it possible.
It’s about giving you the opportunity to talk with someone openly and confidentially about what’s going on in your world. To work out what the challenges are, knowing that you’ll not be judged, and that you can be honest about what’s going to make you feel happy and fulfilled.
Often, we think we know what it is we’re looking for in our lives. We can imagine the great career, house, body or whatever it is that we want, but rarely do we get specific about the reality of what it’s going to take to achieve it.
We go through our days with all the demands that we have on us, and then realise that we have made no real progress towards making the changes that are going to make us feel more fulfilled and happy.
We can feel that life is happening to us, and we never get around to starting the process of creating the life we want.
And even when we do start taking action, we can falter when life starts getting in the way. The problem is that there’s a lot more to creating the life that you want than taking action. As well as the strategies to move forward, you need to look at what’s going on internally and potentially holding you back.
There may be practical barriers standing in your way, but the internal barriers can be the hardest to overcome. Are you carrying negative beliefs, conscious or not, that are going to sabotage your progress? What are those voices in your head saying?
One of the most important aspects of coaching, and reasons why it’s so effective, is that it raises your awareness about what’s going on in your life, and a fundamental part of that is around your thinking.
By taking the time to look at your thinking, you’re able to identify thoughts about yourself, your ability, and the world around you, that are acting as barriers to the fulfilment of your potential and happiness. These thoughts can be very effective saboteurs to your achievement in life.
Sometimes we can reason ourselves to think differently. We can look at our thoughts and realise they are not true, and this insight can be enough to change them. However, most of the time we can find it very difficult to shift our 'go-to' automatic thoughts, and this is because they are the hardwired programming that has been installed.
As we are growing up we receive messages, which can have a profound effect on our perception of ourselves and the world around us. They create our reality and the programs that we use to interact with the world.
These messages may not have been inherently negative, but it’s how we perceived and interpreted these experiences that influence how we perceive our world now.
The best way to work towards changing these interpretations or beliefs, is to take steps to show yourself that they are not true!
When you clear these internal barriers you raise your vibration, and can attract what you’re looking for into your life.
